13. Ebenezer3 Gorby (Thomas2, Samuel1) was born in Rostraver Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. 1784. Ebenezer died December 22, 1852 in Moundsville, WV., at 68 years of age.

He married Prudence Parsons in Washington Co, PA., March 26, 1805. Prudence was born in Green Co, PA. 1784. Prudence was the daughter of Vincent Parsons, Sr and Mariam Garretson. Prudence died June 3, 1860 in Marshall Co, WV., at 75 years of age. Ref TLG1 - GEDCOM file of Claude Burton (1936) Ebenezer Gorby was born in 1784 in Rostraver Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA, moving successively into Fayette, Washington and Green Co, PA, then into Ohio Co, VA. Ebenezer was killed by a runaway horse on December 22, 1852, in Moundsville, WV. He and his wife Prudence "Prudy" (Parsons) Gorby are buried in the cemetery of the Bowman Ridge M E Church, about 8 miles out of Moundsville. Both were members of the M E Church.

Ebenezer was a successful farmer and miller, his farm being about 6 miles form John Gorby's farm and near Cameron, WV. In later life they lived in Cameron.

Prudence Parsons' brother Henry married Ebenezer's sister Hannah, and two older brothers named Vincent and William are brought into Gorby history occasionally. Many of the Parsons have lived in and around Cameron, WV.

Ebenezer served in the War of 1812 from Ohio. He filed bounty land claim based upon his services in the War of 1812. Evidently this claim was followed up by his wife after his death, for she was allowed bounty land in satisfaction for he husband's war service.

For much of the data on the older generations of descendants of Ebenezer Gorby and his wife Prudence Parsons, we are indebted to Josephus Gorby, son of John, son of Job Gorby, including records up to 1909. He had a very complete list, furnished him, he said, by a granddaughter of Ebenezer, but he did not say which one. This included data on the family tree only.

The information concerning Daniel Gorby and his descendants was collected by Frank S and Lois Gorby Lint of Hollywood, CA, while C E Bassett of Proctor, WV, Jennie C Bibber of Smithfield, OH, and others, have contributed much on the remainder of this branch of the family, another being Jennie Martin of St Clairsville, OH.
