1639. John Grant⁷ Gorby (James Sherman⁶, Samuel Stilley⁵, Samuel George⁴, Joseph³, Joseph², Samuel¹) was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. June 4, 1892. John died July 28, 1962 in Southside Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio., at 70 years of age. His body was interred. Hope Cemetery, Salem, Ohio.

He married Agnes Edith Irey in Lisbon, Ohio., March 31, 1913. Agnes was born in Salem, Ohio Columbiana County. January 7, 1895. Agnes died November 29, 1969 in Salem, Ohio., at 74 years of age. Her body was interred. Buried in Hope Cemetery, Salem, Perry Twp, Columbiana Co, OH.

Agnes participated in the SSN event in 284-22-2875.. Ref: VLM1 Agnes was a very active member in the Nazarene Church in Salem, Ohio

She and Grant had a small farm on Depot Road outside of Salem . When Grant died she sold the farm and purchased a home on Cleveland Avenue in Salem where she lived by herself until her death on Saturday, Nov. 29,1969

BURIAL SITE: John and Agnes are buried in Hope Cemetery in Salem, Ohio - Spaces 5 and 6 in N. W. Quarter of Section 3 - Lot No. 210

John's occupation:. Moulder- Eljer Co. Salem, Ohio.

John participated in the SSN event in 297-09-1350.. Ref: VLM1 Grant Gorby was a moulder at the Eljer Company where he worked for 20 years.

He was very active in the Church of the Nazarene in Salem, Ohio. After his death, we found a letter to him from the Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Massachusetts. It was dated October 6, 1952 and read in part " We are certainly grateful to you for the payment of a pledge you made in 1945. For your records we are enclosing a receipt. It is very unusual that a pledge seven years old should be paid to the college. For this reason we are especially grateful to you." There was a receipt enclosed for $50.00.

His Birth Certificate was dated in July of 1942 and was witnessed by an aunt Carrie Jones Gorby of East Palestine, Ohio . Who stated she was 16 years old at the time of his birth and was present for his birth.

Also had a small farm.

John Grant Gorby and Agnes Edith Irey had the following children:
