He married Martha Jane Muldrew in Washington, PA., August 6, 1871. Martha resided :. Wheeling, WV. (1978) Jonah Gorby's marriage to Martha Jane Muldrew is record in an old Squire's record in Washington, PA. He was a puddler by trade, and as a skilled workman he had few superiors in the Ohio Valley. He was kind-hearted, and always tried to be just and generous to all.

Four of their eight children died in infancy.
