He married Elizabeth Ellen Newman February 1884.

Hillis resided :. In 1936, Watonga, OK. (1936) Hillis Jerome Gorby lived in Lilly Chapel, OH as a young man, working with his father on the farm and in the store. He went to Oklahoma at the opening of homestead land near Hitchcock.

Hillis Jerome Gorby and Elizabeth Ellen Newman had the following child:
