503. John Slathial⁶ Gorby (Jacob⁵, Samuel George⁴, Joseph³, Joseph², Samuel¹) was born in Salem Center, Meigs Co, OH. July 1, 1845. John died November 10, 1933 in Peru, Chatauqua Co, KS., at 88 years of age. His body was interred. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, east edge of Sedan, KS.

He married Albina Medora Clark in Peru, Chatauqua Co, KS., August 24, 1874. Albina was born in IL. May 30, 1854. Albina was the daughter of Orrin J Clark and Jane Lee. Albina died October 8, 1916 in Peru, Chatauqua Co, KS., at 62 years of age. Her body was interred. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, east edge of Sedan, KS. Ref: MPH1,BK08 (1936) John S Gorby served with Co I, 53rd Ohio Reg during the Civil War. He died at the home of his daughter - Ella (Gorby) Mitchell.

Ref: BK08 - John S Gorby first settled in Chetopa, KS. He became ill there from water. Early in 1870 went to Peru and stayed with the Patrick Looby family west of town.

He was a farmer and carpenter. He owned 80 acres west of Peru, known as the Gorby farm. He helped build the Oakland schoolhouse. Worked on some of the buildings at the Indian Nation in Pawhuska, OK.

Dave was born February 23, 1882. Dave died December 25, 1961 at 79 years of age. Ref: BK08, BK09
