Their father, James Sherman and grandfather, Samuel Stilley cut down a field next to their house. "Capgun" and "Shooter" were shooting (with their capguns) all the grasshoppers jumping in the fresh cut field. The name stuck until their death. When you say Walter or Charles Samuel to any of the old folk today they say, "you mean Capgun or Shooter".
