3259. Dewey Wayne⁸ Rowland (Lewis Marion⁷, Clara Belle⁶ Marquis, Harriet Amanda⁵ Gorby, Eli⁴, Job³, Thomas², Samuel¹) was born in Lakewood, NM. April 12, 1922.

He married Maxine Irene Sipe in Columbia, MO., February 12, 1944. Maxine was born in Cape Girardeau, MO. June 8, 1923. (1965) Dewey Wayne Rowland earned his Doctorate in the field of Journalism at the University of Missouri, and is head of the Journalism Department at Texas Christian University.

He served in the European Theater during WW II as a Lieutenant with the Field Artillery in the 78th Infantry Division in Germany. He received three Battle stars, a Purple Heart and the Bronze Medal for Bravery. He served as the Commanding officer of a Special Services Entertainment Platoon and in France he was Public Relations Officer at the Reinforcement Depot. He was on active duty from 1943 until 1946.
