87. Lucinda4 Gorby (John G3, Thomas2, Samuel1) was born in Marshall, VA. December 28, 1815. Lucinda died September 13, 1889 in Marshall, VA., at 73 years of age.

She married John B. Bonar in Marshall, Va., April 13, 1837. John was born in Ohio Co, VA. September 18, 1808. John was the son of John Bonar and Rebecca Calhoun. John died March 29, 1867 in Marshall, WV., at 58 years of age. (1936) John Bonar was a farmer. A story related by Dr W P Bonar, a grandson: "On June 10th and 11th, 1859, there were two heavy, killing frosts in West Virginia. Corn was a few inches high, and to save his crop John plowed the corn under and left it under for several days. He had the only crop of corn in Marshall Co, and sold his corn for $2.00 per bushel, though he could have sold it for $10.00 for seed. He claimed $2.00 was enough."

(1936) version gives year of birth as 1808, (1978) version gives year of birth as 1809.

Ref: WJB1 - 2.2.98 - John and Lucinda lived on the old homestead 3 miles east of Moundsville, which John and Mathew inherited for maintaining and caring for their mother, Rebecca Calhoun Bonar during her life. After her death (apparently before 1860), they sold the old homestead. John bought land southeast of Roseby's Rock.

He is listed in the 1860 Census, Roseby's Rock Post Office, John Bonar, age 51 male, farmer.

She married William L Porter in Marshall, WV., August 16, 1860. Ref: WJB1. 2.2.98 Ref: WJB1. 2.2.98 - Had b. and d. dates. She is listed in the 1860 Marshall County, VA census, p.55, line 36, as Elisabeth A. or H., age 20, born in VA. She had no children and died at the age of 81 and is buried by the side of her husband in the cemetery at West Alexander, PA. She had stepchildren by Porter as old as she was. Married William PORTER. Married first, 16 Aug 1860, , Marshall, West Virginia, Alfred WHITE (4485), died 1860.

child 407 iv. Nancy Eleanor Bonar was born April 23, 1843. Nancy died October 6, 1843 at less than one year of age. Ref: WJB1. 2.2.98 - Had b. and d. dates.

child 408 v. John Thomas Bonar was born October 5, 1844. John died September 16, 1852 at 7 years of age. Ref: WJB1. 2.2.98 -Had b. and d. dates. He was listed in the 1850 census, but was dead before the 1860 census. His full name is listed in DER Brown, 1969, Bonar Genealogy.
