He married Lettice Bond in Doddridge Co, WV., September 7, 1858. Lettice was born 1842. Lettice was the daughter of Benjamin Barney Butler Bond and Polly Smith. Lettice died August 13, 1879 at 37 years of age. Lottie Bond was 1st wife of Morgan Gorby. Ref: JC1-1.10.99 - Transcribed from Doddridge Co Marriage Index, Grooms A-Z (LDS Microfilm #169724). Name appears on this index as 'Lettice'. Ref: AH1-8.21.99 - Name is actually Lettice, appeared incorrectly as 'Lottie' in Gorby book. (1936) Morgan Gorby was a millwright, resided at West Union, Tyler Co, WV on what is known as the waters of Middle Island Creek, where he owned and operated a water mill. Ref: BLC1-1.10.99 Ref: CEN1850-8.16.99 - Not listed with the family on this census. However, listed with the family of Hyram Sweeney, farmer, also in Tyler Co, VA is one Mod Gorby, age 15, born in VA. Ref: AH1-8.21.99 - Morgan was also known as 'Martin'.
