895. George Ira⁶ Gorby (Jesse K⁵, William⁴, Eli³, Thomas², Samuel¹) was born September 30, 1880. George died April 19, 1972 at 91 years of age.

He married Norma E Suter in Hannibal, Monroe Co, OH., November 26, 1903. Norma was born in OH. January 17, 1880. Norma died December 29, 1971 at 91 years of age. (1978) Charles Thomas Gorby, George Ira Gorby and Kersey Jesse Gorby, were known in the vicinity of New Martinsville, WV as "Gorby Brothers" (grocery). In 1918, George Ira Gorby moved to Pasadena, CA, and by 1922 had established his own independent business, the Chester-villa Grocery and Market, which he operated until his retirement around 1960, at age 80.

George was actively connected with the Holliston Ave Methodist Episcopal Church, president of the Brotherhood, and trustee and chairman of the Finance Committee. He was known as one of Pasadena's most respected Citizens. He also loved to garden.
