161. Orrin5 Gorby (Thomas4, Job3, Thomas2, Samuel1) was born in Noble Co, OH. April 10, 1835. Orrin died November 28, 1914 at 79 years of age.

He married Elizabeth DeWitt November 26, 1885. Elizabeth resided :. In 1936, 3448 Laclede Ave, Los Angeles, CA. (1936) Orrin Gorby was born in Noble Co, OH, living there until 1851 when his father moved to Shellsburg, IA, and in 1858 to Knox Co, MO. On November 26, 1885, he married Mrs Elizabeth DeWitt. In 1863 Orrin Gorby, with his brother Thomas, left Missouri for California by way of the Oregon Trail, stopped in Oregon for a time, then continued to California where they engaged in farming in a large scale at Chico. In September 1871, the two brothers sold their holdings in California and went to Kentucky to visit their father.

In the spring of 1872 they went to Parsons, Kansas, outfitted themselves, and started out to locate some homesteads. They finally bought out a Homesteader 30 miles southwest of Independence, Kansas, and Thomas brought his family from Kentucky. In 1890 they moved back to California.

Orrin Gorby served in the Confederate army for two years and five months, enlisting from Knox Co, MO, seeing service in Missouri and nearby territory. He rose to the rank of Major, and like his father, he spent many months in prison. He was a member of the Masonic order.
