34. Rachel4 Gorby (Job3, Thomas2, Samuel1) was born in Ohio Co, VA. June 21, 1815. Rachel died June 4, 1840 at 24 years of age.

She married Patton Moreland. (1936) Rachel Gorby grew up in Noble Co, OH, near Hiramsburg. She is buried in the same cemetery with her parents, near Coal Ridge, OH.

The cemetery is on top of a hill and sadly neglected. Her stone, a tall, old fashioned slab, in addition to the dates, bears the following lines:

"Remember me as you pass by, So once was I as you are now; So you will be as I here lie, Prepare for death -"

The remainder was worn away. The stone was made and lettered by T Stockwell. Nothing else has been learned concerning her or her descendants except that she had two daughters.

Rachel Gorby and Patton Moreland had the following children:

child 199 i. Nancy5 Moreland was born in Guernsey, OH. April 21, 1837. Nancy died May 29, 1910 in Marion, Marion, KS., at 73 years of age. Her body was interred. Harter Cemetery, Marion, Marion, KS. She married John Shanklin in Atchison, Nodaway, MO., November 5, 1857.

John was born in Marion, Marion, IN. August 22, 1834. John died August 25, 1927 in Center Township, Marion, KS., at 93 years of age. His body was interred. Harter Cemetery, Marion, Marion, KS. Ref: BSH1 2.23.98 Ref: BSH1 2.23.98

child 200 ii. Hannah Moreland was born in OH. February 6, 1839. Hannah died March 5, 1922 in Nodaway Co, MO., at 83 years of age. She married James Scott Bainum in Nodaway Co, MO., September 5, 1858. James was born in Guernsey Co, OH. September 6, 1836. James was the son of John Wesley Bainum and Jane Scott. James died September 1, 1864 in AK., at 27 years of age.
