358. Prudence Alcinda⁵ Gorby (Vincent Parsons⁴, Ebenezer³, Thomas², Samuel¹) was born in Marshall Co, WV, near Bowman Ridge M E Church. June 5, 1855. Prudence died April 23, 1902 in Kansas City, MO., at 46 years of age. Her body was interred. Superior, NE.

She married Martin L Fogel in Nelson, Nuskolls, NE., January 3, 1878. Martin was born in Monroe Co, OH. 1855. Martin resided :. In 1936, 5004 Forest Ave, Kansas City, MO. (1936) Martin L Fogel was from Nelson, Nuckolls Co, NE.

Ref: BK10 - M. L. FOGEL, County Treasurer, was born in Monroe County, Ohio, in 1855, remaining there until 1877, when his father, two sisters and other members of the family came to Nebraska, and located at Superior, Nuckolls County. Mr. F. engaged in the grocery and hardware trade at that point, and, in the fall of 1879, was elected County Treasurer, and was re-elected in 1881. Was married in 1879, at Hastings, Neb., to Miss Prudence A. Gorby. They have two children--Nomie and Paul. He is a member of the Nelson Lodge, No. 77., A., F. & A. M., and Vice President of the bank of Nelson. (1936) A niece described Prudence Alcinda (Gorby) Fogel as "a lovely character".

After the death of her father, Vincent Parsons Gorby, she persuaded her mother Prudence (Parsons) Gorby and her two single sisters, Sarah Melvina Gorby and Celia Amanda Gorby, to come to Nebraska to live, as there was a better opportunity for young teachers in the newer country, so they went to Nelson, NE, where the Fogels then lived.
