798. John William⁶ Gorby (John Richmond⁵, David⁴, Job³, Thomas², Samuel¹) was born in Near Hiramsburg, Noble Co, OH. February 13, 1881.

He married Lucy Ethel Ford June 25, 1903. Lucy was born in Marietta, OH. February 15, 1876. (1936) John William Gorby graduated from the Caldwell, OH high school, entered Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating from Marietta College, OH, a Phi Beta Kappa.

He was instructor in public speaking at the University of Arizona and admitted to the Bar in Arizona in 1905. From there he went to Chicago University to get his MA degree.

He then went into banking, serving in the Central Trust, Chicago Safe Deposit Co, Peoples Trust & Savings bank, and Central Manufacturing District Bank in various capacities - assistant manager, manager, assistant cashier, cashier and vice president.

He has served as publicity manager of the Cyclone Fence Co, National Transportation Institute, and the Century of Progress Exposition, has been field secretary for the American Legion $5,000,000 endowment fund, director Child Welfare division of the American Legion, with the National Security League, etc. At present he is Assistant Manager of the Chicago Real Estate Board.

He was Captain in the US Army during the World War. Like his grandfather David, John is about 6 ft 4 in tall, weighing over 200 lbs. He is a gifted speaker, a Republican, and a Methodist.

John William Gorby and Lucy Ethel Ford had the following children:

+ 1931 i. Paul Ford⁷ Gorby was born December 3, 1904.

1932 ii. Harriett Dawson Gorby was born June 10, 1906. She married Elgin Edwin Narrin October 31, 1929. Elgin was born May 19, 1903.

Harriett resided :. In 1936, 703 Sherman Ave, Evanston, IL. (1936) Harriet Dawson (Gorby) Narrin is a graduate of Northwestern University.

+ 1933 iii. John William Gorby Jr was born February 7, 1908.
