Ref: DCG1 2.23.98 - The original house on Marion Gorby's farm was destroyed by fire in 1922. The story is that his wife Ruth was sweeping up around the fireplace and did not notice that some embers were caught in the broom. The fire broke out in the pantry after the broom was put away. His grandson Darrel Gorby recalled that in his later years, his "grandpap" loved to be driven around the farm in an old Model T Ford so he check up on the further parts of the farm. He always wore a big, old floppy hat while riding in the Model T.
